Views, Visions, Voices is a celebration of both Highland 2007, Scotland's year of Highland Culture and Kilmartin House Museum's 10th Birthday.

Views, Visions, Voices is an innovative multi-sited multivocal exhibition using ancient artefacts from the area which will be interpreted with text, poetry, illustration and art work. It will be the largest collection of prehistoric objects from Argyll ever before gathered in one place some of which have never been seen on display before.

The exhibition will concentrate on the early prehistoric period and will run until 21 December 2007.

The exhibition will also move out of the Museum gallery - sited in the landscape will be an art installation created by archaeologist and artist Aaron Watson. Specially commissioned for the event, the ‘Kilmartin Eye’ combines a sculptural enclosure with heritage interpretation.

Conceived as a destination and focal point, this temporary installation will expand upon the indoor display to create a visitor experience out in the landscape.

Sited to overlook the major archaeological monuments of the Glen, it will comprise a circular timber enclosure able to contain a group of people.

From inside, views of the Glen will be carefully restricted and juxtaposed against translucent artworks that depict ‘visions’ of the landscape in prehistory. Through this subtle design and use of materials, the ‘Kilmartin Eye’ will transform the visitors’ sense of time and place and encourage them, quite literally, to see beyond the modern world by creating an experience that gives a sense of what the landscape was like five thousand years ago.
