On an elevated site at the Heights of Brae, Strathpeffer, with panoramic views from the Cromarty Firth to the hills of the west, the Neil Gunn Trust erected a modern-day standing stone in 1987.
This is close to where Highland author Neil Gunn lived during the years in which he wrote eleven of his well-known books, including “The Silver Darlings”.
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the erection of the memorial, easy access has been made possible for all and a sheltered seating area provided at the viewpoint.
Entry is through the Tryst gate and follow the paved pathway to the viewpoint where local artist Allan Haldane carved images on flagstone, inspired by the writings of Neil Gunn.
