To create a safe arena for the Highland Lights event, a number of traffic restrictions will be put in place.  Please allow sufficient time for travel.

ROAD CLOSURES FOR HIGHLAND LIGHTS

Inverness - 12 January 2008

The road closures will affect vehicular traffic, but pedestrian access and access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

Alternative routes for vehicles will be signposted during the times of the closures, which are as follows:

  • Huntly Street, Inverness, closed at its junction with Young Street to its con-junction with Friars Place, between 2pm and 10pm.
  • Friars Place, Inverness, closed at its con-junction with Huntly Street to its termination at a turning head, between 2pm and 10pm.
  • Huntly Place, Inverness, closed at its con-junction with Abban Street to its con-junction with Gilbert Street, between 6pm and 9pm.
  • Gilbert Street, Inverness, closed at its con-junction with Huntly Place to its junction with Grant Street, between 6pm and 9pm.
  • Grant Street, Inverness, commencing at its con-junction with the Waterloo Bridge and continuing in a north-westerly direction for a distance of 40 metres (44 yards), or thereby, between 6pm and 9pm.
  • Waterloo Bridge, Inverness, closed at its con-junction with Grant Street to its con-junction with Waterloo Place, between 6pm and 9pm.
  • Waterloo Place, Inverness, closed at its junction with the A82 Glasgow – Fort William – Inverness Trunk Road at Shore Street Roundabout, to its con-junction with Waterloo Bridge, between 6pm and 9pm on. Access to premises on Riverside Street will be maintained at all times.
  • Portland Place, Inverness, closed at its junction with Waterloo place to its termination in a turning head, between 6pm and 9pm.
  • Shore Street, Inverness, closed at its junction with the A82 Glasgow – Fort William – Inverness Trunk Road at Shore Street Roundabout, to its con-junction with Cromwell Road, between 6pm and 9pm. Access to premises on Innes Street, Deveron Street, George Street and Cromwell Court will be maintained at all times.
  • Cromwell Road, Inverness, closed at its con-junction with Shore Street to its con-junction with Longman Drive, between 6pm and 9pm.
  • Longman Drive, Inverness, closed at its con-junction with Cromwell Road to its con-junction with Stadium Road, between 5pm and 10pm.
  • Henderson Drive, Inverness, commencing at its junction with Longman Drive and continuing in a south-easterly direction for a distance of 45 metres (49 yards), or thereby, between 5pm and 10pm.
  • Stadium Road, Inverness, closed at its con-junction with Longman Drive to its junction with the westernmost car park access to Inverness Caledonian Thistle Football Club, between 5pm and 10pm. 

Please note the Greig Street foot bridge will be closed to the public from 6pm to 8pm on Saturday 12 January.

Kessock Bridge - Traffic diversions will be put in place, please follow these routes.

Wednesday 9 January 2008

  • Footpath on the west side of bridge to be closed from 10am on Wednesday 9 January to 4pm on Sunday 13 January. On Wednesday evening – from 8pm to midnight – 2 × Lane 2 closures for the removal of central reserve barriers.
  • 30mph restriction for the duration of the works.

Thursday 10 January 2008

  • Lane 1 × closure northbound from 8am.
  • 3pm – set up tidal contraflow with 2 × lanes running northbound and 1 × lane running southbound.

Friday 11 January 2008

  • 6am – switch contraflow running for 2 × lanes running southbound and 1 × lane running northbound.
  • 3pm – switch contraflow to 2 × lanes running northbound and 1 × lane running southbound.
  • 10pm – close northbound lanes and have 2 lanes running on south side of carriageway – one southbound and one northbound (this to be left in place until 9am on Sunday 13 January).

Saturday 12 January 2008

  • Full closure of the Kessock Bridge from 7.30pm to 9.30pm.

Sunday 13 January 2008

  • 9am to 4pm – 2 × lane 2 closures to replace central reserve barriers.
  • 4pm – re-open footpath on west side of bridge and remove speed restriction.

WATER CLOSURE ON 12 JANUARY

  • There is no passage under the Kessock Bridge between 8 -9pm.

PARKING

  • On Site Parking at Caley Thistle’s Tulloch Caledonian Stadium.
  • £3 per car.
  • Access from the A9 Kessock roundabout.
  • Car Park open from 6pm.
