30 November As part of Highland 2007 three special events will mark St Andrew's Day in the Highlands: Eastgate Centre in Inverness will host, Malt and Music - a day packed with Highland music and dance for all ages and drams for the over 18s! Culloden Battlefield will host a day of activities including Gaelic music and pipes, raising the Saltire, battlefield tours plus much more. The culmination of Highland 2007 brings with it the opening of the new Culloden Battlefield experience. The state-of-the-art visitor centre houses an interactive exhibition which recounts the story of 1746 through the eyes of real-life characters. A new film immerses the audience, putting them at the centre of this brutal battle that left over 1200 dead in just one hour. Walk the site with an electronic battlefield guide and visit the centre's new rooftop viewing platform from where you can appreciate the true scale of the battle. 29 December Get ready for Hogmanay with this midwinter celebration of light, fire, warmth, colour and music. After a musical procession led by Nessie and a spectacular firework display by BOOOM! Dance yourself happy to music from Orkestra del Sol at Glen Urquhart Public Hall in Drumnadrochit. Breabach (nominated for Scottish Folk Band of the Year in this year's Trad Music Awards) along with Chris Meredith and Amy Thatcher will add to the evening's entertainment.
