Air Splaoid!

Which English words do you use that come from Gaelic? Do you have a Gaelic name? Do you live in a place with a Gaelic history? You can find all this out, and much more when you have a look at the fascinating facts gathered in Air Splaoid!

Come on the adventure! ‘Thig air splaoid!’

Air Splaoid! is an innovative campaign to promote Gaelic language and culture and encourage people to learn Gaelic. It is a chance for individuals, groups or families to take part in a virtual tour of the Highlands attending different events during Highland 2007.

The campaign incorporates an online Gaelic course consisting of twelve lessons, one for each month of the year. The website is designed to encourage people of different age groups to learn Gaelic by choosing a character and engaging in that character’s travels around events during Highland 2007.

The project gives information of historical and cultural interest, introduces people to Gaelic, incorporates sports and the arts along with lots of fun and games designed to promote language and learning.

All learning materials are available online making this a unique learning experience and a fun promotional campaign to widen access to Gaelic throughout Scotland.
