Highland 2007 Proves Global Appeal as Beer-Mat Competition Winner is Announced
13 July 2007

The beer-mat competition run by Highland 2007, the year Scotland celebrates Highland culture has been won by Beth Loft from Sanday, Orkney.

With hundreds of people from all over the world entering the competition to win a £100 shopping voucher for the Macdonald Aviemore Highland Resort shopping complex via the Highland 2007 website and through pubs and hotels throughout the Highlands and Islands, Highland 2007 has proved the appeal of the area to a global audience.

Beth was entered into the prize draw after correctly answering the six pub trivia questions featured on the Highland 2007 beer mats.  On hearing she had won Beth said: “That’s wonderful news. I’m really looking forward to my spending spree.”

Fiona Hampton, director of Highland 2007, said: “We were delighted with the number of people from around the world who took part in this competition.  Beth has won an excellent prize and I’m sure she will enjoy spending her prize money in the fantastic Macdonald Aviemore Highland Resort shopping complex.”

Competition entries came from as far a field as Brazil, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Norway, the USA, Canada and throughout the UK.
