European Pipe Band Championships Preview
12 June 2007

The Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association have announced that one of the biggest Massed Pipes and Drums Band ever seen in the Highlands will provide the climax to next month’s European Pipe Band Championships which will be staged in Bught Park in Inverness on Saturday 28th July.

With a week to go until entries close for the event, RSPBA Chief Executive Ian Embleton has announced that at least 4500 bandsmen will be performing in what promises to be one of the most spectacular events staged in the Highlands this summer.

Admission to the European Championships costs £6 for adults and £2 for concessions and the action gets underway in four specially constructed arenas in Bught Park from 9am.

Mr Embleton said: “Following the outstanding success of the Tulloch City of Inverness Pipe Band Championships staged at the Inverness Highland Games in recent years, we are delighted to bring the European Pipe Band Championship to Inverness as part of Invernessfest and we hope that this will be the first of many visits in years to come.”
