24 April 2007

Inver House Distillers – the dynamic drinks company distinguished by its reputation for innovation and originality – is delighted to announce its partnership with Highland 2007, Scotland’s year-long celebration of the area’s unique cultural landscape.

In a deal that includes both financial and in-kind support, Inver House will unite the popular single malts created in its distilleries in and around the Highlands - Old Pulteney, Balblair, anCnoc and Speyburn - with Highland 2007’s diverse cultural events programme which invites locals and visitors alike to enjoy the area’s rich heritage, stunning landscape and contemporary as well as traditional customs.

The year-long celebration presents a highly anticipated programme across the Highlands covering six strands of culture: arts, sport, heritage, language, science and environment.  It will include such varying events as the O’Neill Highland Open, which will see 144 of the world’s top professional surfers descend on the legendary Thurso East reef break, to InvernessFest – a new cultural festival in Inverness between 15 and 29 July featuring one of the world’s most celebrated musicians, Sir Elton John.

Inver House Distillers will welcome audience and participants to selected events with warming drams of their single malts which include Old Pulteney - one of the UK’s best selling malts distilled in the northerly town of Wick; the premium malt whisky Balblair which has just been re-launched in stylish new packaging inspired by its pictish roots; anCnoc a supporter of Scotland’s leading arts and creative bodies; and Speyburn, the company’s most popular brand in the USA.

Karen Walker, Marketing Manager of Inver House Distillers commented: “Inver House Distillers has five distilleries located in and around the Highlands and we feel passionately about the whisky we produce and its heritage.  We are thrilled to be able to support Highland 2007 which is providing so many opportunities for locals as well as visitors to experience and celebrate the unique culture of the Scottish Highlands.  We hope that everyone will enjoy the taste of our malts when attending the superb programme of events and raise their glass to the year of Highland culture!”

Alison Magee, Chair of Highland 2007 said: “We are delighted to welcome Inver House Distillers as an official Partner to Highland 2007 and the year Scotland celebrates Highland culture.  The business community has been tremendously supportive of Highland 2007 and this adds significantly to the quality and range of events and activities taking place throughout the year across the Highlands & Islands.”
