CnaG is pleased to announce the employment of a Gaelic Coordinator who will support Highland 2007 events to incorporate more Gaelic.
James Graham has begun in his position as Gaelic Coordinator for the main events of Highland 2007's programme. Over two months, James will be working at a practical level with the main H2007 event organisers in order to incorporate an enhanced level of Gaelic and promote the language in general. This important work is based on the following principles:
- Gaelic as component part of events
- English and Gaelic receiving equal recognition and use
- Support from event organisers to incorporate Gaelic
- Practical support to raise the profile of the language
James will be contacting the main event organisers in the coming month in order to prepare an action plan for each event. This work will take place by:
- Consideration of the particular opportunities available and the type of event
- Agreement with event organisers on a positive workplan
- Practical work to implement the workplan
- Image and profile of Gaelic accordingly raised at events
Event organisers should consider as a matter of priority how they will incorporate Gaelic at each level into their event. James will be advising and supporting each event so that they can fulfill their responsibilties to incorporate Gaelic as an integral part of each event.
